Loving This Weather!

The kids and I have been taking advantage of this wonderful weather and getting outside as much as possible. We have been hitting as many parks as we can think of because we know that it's going to be freezing before long! There is a park by my mom's house that has a huge hill, and Emma loves to run down it.

Logan's favorite thing is the slide. He will swing for a few minutes and then be itching to get down. He is so active all the time that the swings aren't enough for him!

This past weekend, Matt used his leaf blower to make a huge pile of leaves for the kids. Emma, obviously, loved it.

Logan was not happy about being tossed in and refused to go anywhere near it. I'm not sure why he's so scared of the leaves!

Recently, we had a huge scare! I was blow-drying my hair in the computer room with the baby gate up so I could still hear the kids. Emma had already interrupted twice, so I told her once more and we weren't going to the park unless it was an emergency that she was interrupting. Of course, two seconds later she comes running up to the gate saying, "Mommy, mommy! Logan has a big knife from the kitchen!" Here comes Logan with a butcher knife in his hand, blade sticking straight out. I jumped up and took it. I asked Emma where he got it and she said he just reached up into the drawer and grabbed it. It's scary because if she had tried to take it from him, he would have jerked away from her and they would have struggled over this huge butcher knife! Needless to say, we went to the park and Matt installed a drawer lock that night! I can't keep up with this boy!

Happy Halloween!

Okay, so maybe it's a few days after Halloween, but the kids had a great time. The Friday before Halloween we went to Park University's Fight Night. They have carnival games, trick or treating, and a haunted house for the kids. The scariest thing for Logan was the pirate, and the scariest thing for me was the cockroach that the chemistry club had. It was disgusting!

On Halloween night, we trick or treated with some of our family. Logan caught on quick as to what was going on. He would push his way to the front of the group to get at the door where the candy was, and he had no fears about reaching his hand in the bowl and grabbing the candy out!! He also had a super tight grip on his bag and would panic if it was out of his sight! Overall, I think that he loved trick or treating! Emma, of course, had a great time, but daddy had to hold her bag towards the end because she said that it was getting too heavy. Poor thing.

The kids are growing so quickly that I can hardly believe my eyes!!! Emma is learning to read more and more everyday, and I am amazed by how far she has come since the beginning of kindergarten. Last night, she read me a whole Barbie book, which was awesome! We are looking into some activities for her after the holidays. Recently, she said that she wanted to do soccer, but now she is back to wanting to do ballet, so we'll see!

Logan is talking more and more each day. He is understanding a ton, too! My favorite is that I can tell him to go get me a diaper and he will, and I never have to get up. :) I love that he can shake his head yes and no and say the words yes and no because it makes it easier to know what he wants. My kids are growing way too fast!
